Matt & Monica
I met Matt during a continuing education course at OCAD (Conceptual Photography). We hit it off right away. After the third class, we walked to the subway together, got off at the same station, headed down the same streets, and just as I was starting to think "this dude is being sooo creepy," we found out we were neighbours. Hahaha.
Our engagement session took two seasons to complete due to an unexpected trip to the ER mid-shoot. Matt fell and broke his wrist, shit got real fast. I was genuinely blown away by his calmness and composure during a moment where I’d probably be at my worst. We even have a photo of him posing with the broken wrist.
When I asked if I could also photograph their wedding, they mentioned that their venue already had in-house photographers. That’s when I first heard about Toronto Micro Weddings. At the time, I was doing a mentorship through The Forum with a former military Russian man (if you're a female entrepreneur, I highly recommend checking The Forum out), and he pushed me to go after opportunities instead of waiting around. I reached out to TMW, and not long after, I started working with them. That’s basically how I left the service industry hehe.

Photographing their wedding felt like documenting a friend’s love party.
Their bridespeople were I N C R E D I B L E.
And the wedding itself? Nothing short of genuine, emotional, and the real kind of authentic. One thing you need to know about Matt and Monica is that they are the funniest, weirdest (in the best way), and loveliest couple on the planet. I laughed and cried during their vows so hard I had to remind myself I was there to work, and to document others going through the same emotional rollercoaster.
